Sophia Hutchins Dies at 29 in Tragic ATV Accident
Sophia Hutchins, aged just 29, tragically died on July 2, 2025 in what authorities have called a horrific ATV accident near Caitlyn Jenner’s Malibu home. Driving a Polaris quad, Hutchins collided with the rear bumper of a moving vehicle on Decker Canyon Road, causing her ATV to veer off the road and plunge approximately 350 feet into a ravine. Emergency responders located her with drones and pronounced her dead at the scene; the occupants of the other car emerged unharmed.
Sophia Hutchins had been a close friend and manager to Caitlyn Jenner since 2017, living in her home and building a professional yet deeply familial bond. Their friendship dated back to 2015, shortly after Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, came out as transgender. Hutchins, herself a transgender woman and a Pepperdine graduate, served as CEO of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation as well as founder and CEO of health‑tech company LUMASOL.
Friends remember her energetic advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights and her public role as a surrogate in Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign. Though rumors swirled over the years, Hutchins consistently denied any romantic involvement with Caitlyn, emphasizing their relationship was purely friendship and partnership. As the investigation into the ATV crash continues, the loss of Sophia Hutchins leaves a void in Caitlyn Jenner’s circle of friends and colleagues.
